Former Police Captain Produced Child Porn

With years of law enforcement experience behind him, the 52-year-old man should have known better.

He promised to buy a minor girl clothing in exchange for sexually explicit webcam sessions. The ex-cop had her perform sex acts and stream images of herself over the Internet while he watched remotely from his home computer.

During the steamy sessions, he exchanged text messages with the girl in which he directed her actions.

At the time of his arrest, Michael Grennier of South Plainfield, New Jersey, was working for a private computer forensics firm. Prior to his retirement, he was a computer forensics specialist for the South Plainfield Police Department.

He pleaded guilty to the charges against him and was sentenced to 20 years in prison for exploiting a minor. In addition to the prison term, the judge sentenced Grennier to serve lifetime supervised release and register as a sex offender.

  • According to charges presented in court, a deputy sheriff in Hall County, Georgia, accepted $200 or $300 on five occasions late in 2014 from a person he thought was a drug dealer. In exchange for the money, the officer agreed to warn the drug dealer if he was under investigation in Hall County. David M. Treadway, 33, of Gainesville, Georgia, is facing bribery and conspiracy to distribute marijuana charges.
  • A police detective in Dallas, Texas, who worked in the vice unit met a female prostitute during a raid on a local adult entertainment establishment. Jose Luis Bedoy first helped her reclaim property seized during the raid, then contacted her and expressed an interest in getting massages and having a relationship. From there he began giving her advice on   employment opportunities in the adult entertainment industry. He also explained how to screen her clients to avoid being arrested at a massage parlor. And he took her to his residence and showed her the contents of confidential Dallas police investigative files. On multiple occasions, Bedoy tutored the woman on how to avoid being arrested while using Backpage.com for prostitution. He advised her to change her phone number every two weeks and also told her the best days and times to work and the best days and times to take time off and avoid law enforcement. Bedoy was convicted of obstruction of official proceedings and obstruction of the due administration of justice.
