Police arrested the Cincinnati, Ohio, man on April 8, 2014, in Louisville, Kentucky, after he drove a young woman from Cincinnati to Louisville to engage in prostitution at a Louisville motel.
Further investigation linked him to the prostitution of additional women in Ohio, Kentucky and elsewhere.
According to the evidence in the case, the man physically assaulted several of the young women he exploited for prostitution, including striking one of the victims in the face when she threatened to run away.
To support his sex trafficking scheme, he controlled the women he prostituted by various means, including boarded up windows and doors, and locks that restricted the women’s ability to exit the dwelling where he housed them when he was not transporting them for prostitution.
“This defendant preyed on vulnerable young victims and cruelly exploited them for his profit,” said Acting Assistant Attorney General Vanita Gupta of the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division. “This sentence sends a clear message that the United States will not tolerate modern-day slavery and will work tirelessly to restore the rights and dignity of the victims of this crime.”
Christopher Hisle, 45, pleaded guilty on November 14, 2014, to sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion, and to transporting individuals in interstate commerce for prostitution.
He was sentenced to serve 180 months in prison and 10 years of supervised release. Restitution will be determined at a future date.
